Return on a Personal Investment →
In the last year or so I’ve made a conscious effort 2 re-invest in myself both personally & professionally. Recently I feel like I’ve started 2 see a return on the hard work & thought I would share a few of my strategies.
$ channel the love & support that I receive from my primary support group of family, friends, & collegues. This tight group has a personal interest in seeing me succeed so I take advantage of their help & resources. I’m not afraid 2 ask!
$ physical fitness: a healthy body promotes a healthy mind. Sounds simple but it’s true. Helps w/ everything from lowering stress 2 increased stamina. If i can afford it I also use a personal trainer one or two days a week 2 push me.
$ promote a positive attitude: times are tough but it doesn’t mean your approach 2 life has 2 suffer. Simple physics illustrate that like forces attract while opposite forces repel. Most people don’t want 2 be around an energy drain.
$ Experiment w/ new media tools & social networking sites like Linked In.com, tumblr.com, twitter.com, amplify.com, & facebook.com. My personal favorite is a google RSS reader, many inspirational writers, designers, artists, & musicians use blogs as a way 2 share their thinking. Not only does it give you an opportunity 2 peek inside their brain but also the chance to create a conversation & cultivate a relationship.
My motto, participate don’t hibernate!
